| It's been over decades that reality tv shows has been shown in our tv, and that it became more popular and emphasize in the late `90s. Just previously, we've seen the rise of Taylor Hicks winning the American Idol and Baskauskas Aras taking the US$1 million in the Survivor Panama. These winners owes the network greatly for their rewards and their new found glory. Through these reality tv shows, they gained experiences and moments that they won't forget in battling out to attain the ultimate prize. So in a way, these reality shows have become a major boost to their career and their future. Although all that participated in these contests admits that the experiences they gain are very rewarding and that it help to enrichen their lives. In addition, by taking part in these reality shows, they can easily tell others proudly that they had the guts to do it despite of not winning in the end. Thus, it can presume that these reality tv shows is a positive benefit in bringing together a stronger bond community.
Reality tv shows is fully meant for entertaining purpose for the viewers where the producers will get more benefits out of it that their pockets are getting bigger with the profits earned. Who is the real winner in the reality tv shows? Do the winners really do get to satisfy with the whole reward that was promised in the beginning? Reality tv shows has captivate the audience to think that anyone can get the ultimate prize, and that their life will be full of glitters until their retirement days. This message then became the magnet that will attract all folks to win the prize and that the show will focus on the captivating moments that may seem an embarassment or humiliating to the contestant. Of course these are shown for good humor, but is it worth it to show to the public the ordeal the person had to go through? For some winners, are they still the same person they were before entering the contest? Take for instance, Richard Hatch refuses to pay taxes on his US$1 million prize a few months back and 'Survivor: Vanautu' winner Chris Daugherty was charged for lying on his job. Yes, American Idol winners do give back to the community, but isn't what's expected from their job? How come none of the winners from Survivor ever gave their money away for the good cause like charities or raising funds?
Okie.. Enough with that, this is the weekends, I'm supposed to be out and having some fun. If only I could be with my Laila right now, but of course I do plan to see her soon. Hehe.. Anyway, have a nice weekend y'all..
| Yeap, life is really like a box of chocolates, all those lil' pieces just giving you such yummie sensation of pleasure. Suprise ya with the fillings that lay inside, or that it could be just plain dark or milk chocolate. Then again, you can always plan out that you can get the exact chocolate ya wanna taste. No need to waste time in choosing, and just go for it.
I just can't think anything else better to say but, I just can't wait to get back to K.L.!!! Hehe..
| Finally, I get the chance to go back to my blogging. Well I've been back from the debate competition for almost a week, but I've been having some difficult moments. Now, they're all gone and I'm doing good with my life again. Well except for the fact that the TV is busted, so no cable for I dunno how long.
From now on, I'm gonna have all my blog entries start with "THBT", which stands for "This House Believes That...", and usually this is how the debate would start with the motion given. At first, I had some doubts that my team mates and I would reached to the finals. However, after a few rounds, we became real strong that I was so damn confident of myself to win and lift the trophy. Unfortunately, I was over-confident. In the quarter-final, my team and I were on the Government side, which also mean that we can twist the motion to any way we like by using a conceptual definition. Our conceptual definition was OK, but I made the stupid mistake of somewhat giving two stands. The motion of the debate was "This House believes that housewives should be paid for their work", and we define housewives as Malaysian Citizens who carry out duties that was never asked upon them to carry out (i.e. athletes, scientists), and should be paid for their work refers to having them to be more appreciated and rewarded. That's the problem there, I add the word more to the motion, and thus, the judge let the opposition win. Just one small word, and I let my whole team down. Oh well, at least I can learn this mistake and get myself ready for other debate competitions to come.
Other than that, I'll be in Kuala Lumpur by the 28th of May, and staying there until 11th of June. I so desperately need to go back to KL to get my blackie (my IBM notebook) fix up. Of course, hang out with whoever is in KL in the time being because by the 12th of June, I'll be back in KUSTEM for my field work, where I get to to the island to do sampling of seagrass, and do other tasks related to my field.
With that, I thank you.... (that's how I usually end my speech during the debate )
| For those who have read the previous posting, I'm sorry if I've offended any of you. Although at the same time, that previous post was meant for those people who choose to take the medical profession for their own selfish greedy needs. Meaning that they aim only to get the Dr. title along with the Datuk, Tan Sri, YB, etc. I want to make myself clear that I do not think all medical students think only of getting the fame and wealth, for I do have friends who have a clear heart of serving for the community. When I was studying in Pakistan, there was one particular fellow whose mind was clouded with opinions of seniority. He doesn't seem to earn his respect for he always insist and would assume for others to give him the respect. It's that kind of person who only strives just for the Dr. title and in the process proclaims himself as a medical genius among the others. Now that, I really despise of. That freaking jerk. | | |
